Upcoming Student Testing - January 12th and January 19th through February 12th

This year your child will be taking a test called the Interim Comprehensive Assessment or ICA if they are in grades 3-8. Students in grades 1-2 will be taking Math and English Language Arts Assessments from their GoMath and Wonders Books. These tests will be administered to your child via Zoom from January 19th through February 26th. Students will complete a 'Dry Run' on January 12th (during this day, students will log into the test but not actually take it - we just want to make sure everyone is comfortable with the steps they will need to take during the real test). The data from these tests will help educators provide instruction and support to help your student succeed. Below you will find a Step by Step Guide of what your student will do in order to take these Assessments. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.  Thank you for your support.  Stay safe!

Zoom Class Non enrolled persons

On Friday, December 11, one of our classes was Zoom Bombed. The unknown person (a youth) who entered the Zoom class made specific, derogatory and profane insults toward the teacher. The Adelanto Elementary School District IT staff along with school site administrators are investigating the situation.

For any student in the class effected by the comments emotionally or mentally, please notify the teacher or school administrators. The District provides counseling services to all students.

We strongly condemn these disruptions, which have no place in our schools, especially during a time of heightened stress.

We do not want this to happen at any of our schools and classes. We are reviewing current security measures and will make necessary adjustments. Zoom security practices include the use of a waiting room prior to class starting, locking the Zoom class once class starts and having students use their full name on their Zoom profile.

When an update is available, we will share with you in a timely manner.

Thank you parents/guardians for your continued partnership and support.

Welcome Back Letter

Welcome back

August 9, 2020 Dear Parents and Families: As we begin this new school year remotely, we do so with a renewed focus and commitment to supporting student academic achievement through high-quality and rigorous distance learning that addresses the needs of all our students The first day of school is always exciting. Equal parts busy and full of wonder. We have always been moved by the sight of a parent bringing their kindergartener - who may or may not be totally in favor of the idea - to school for the first time. And, there’s the crowd of middle schoolers, who literally giggle and scream as they run toward each other at first sight of a friend’s smiling face. Teachers, of course, have spent long hours decorating their classrooms with the alphabet, the periodic table of elements, a challenging mathematical equation, or a Shel Silverstein poem. Unfortunately, these moments will not occur on this first day of school. Despite the uncertainty that surrounds us, the start of a new school year is still an exciting time, not only for students, but for families, and our staff as well. In this spirit, it’s my pleasure to welcome you back to the Adelanto Elementary School District for the 2020-2021 school year. I want to reassure you that we remain fully committed to providing a high quality distance learning experience for all students.
